Zeta Global to Acquire Senso to Expand AI Discovery Infrastructure

Zeta Global is acquiring AI engineering company Senso in a move that could deepen its position in generative engine optimization (GEO), AI visibility and AI-powered customer intelligence. The deal brings Senso's engineering team and frontier-model connectivity into Zeta while extending a strategy that connects how brands appear in AI-generated answers with the customer data and marketing activation capabilities already inside Zeta's platform.

Zeta Global has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Senso, a Y Combinator-backed AI engineering company whose technology already powers elements of Zeta's Generative Engine Optimization offering.

The acquisition gives Zeta more control over the technology behind its AI visibility capabilities while adding Senso's AI engineering talent and deeper connectivity to frontier models. Senso co-founder and CEO Saroop Bharwani, along with the Senso team, will join Zeta following the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The strategic significance extends beyond bringing an engineering team in-house. Zeta is positioning Senso as a component of a broader intelligent AI infrastructure strategy that connects enterprise data and context with the AI platforms increasingly influencing how consumers discover and evaluate brands.

That puts GEO at the center of a larger marketing technology workflow.

Zeta's existing GEO solution monitors how brands appear across systems including ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, identifies visibility and citation problems, and provides recommendations intended to improve how companies are represented in AI-generated answers. The company launched the capability in 2025 as part of the Zeta Marketing Platform.

The Senso acquisition expands that proposition to include additional AI engineering and connectivity to frontier models, while linking those capabilities to the Zeta Data Cloud.

The intended workflow is notable. Rather than simply telling marketers whether a brand appears in an AI answer, Zeta wants to connect AI discovery data with customer intelligence, marketing activation and measurable business outcomes.

That distinction could become increasingly important as AI platforms move further up the customer journey.

Traditional SEO largely measures whether a page can be discovered and clicked from a search engine. GEO introduces a different problem: whether an AI system understands a company accurately enough to mention it, recommend it or cite its information when answering a user's question.

Zeta's own GEO research describes the shift as one from optimizing for search rankings toward influencing how brands are represented inside AI-generated responses. Its platform already provides capabilities for monitoring AI visibility, identifying citation gaps and inaccurate answers, benchmarking competitors and making content more suitable for large language models.

Senso gives Zeta an opportunity to take that approach deeper into the underlying AI infrastructure.

The company's technology combines applied AI research and engineering to help enterprises turn trusted information into better AI interactions and customer experiences. That expertise could help Zeta adapt more quickly as models, agents and AI discovery interfaces continue to change.

For enterprise marketers, the acquisition also addresses a growing problem with AI visibility measurement: being visible is not necessarily the same as generating business value.

A brand may appear prominently in an AI answer but have little information about who encountered that answer, what prompted the discovery or whether the interaction eventually influenced a purchase. Zeta's advantage is its existing customer intelligence and activation infrastructure, which gives it a potential pathway from AI discovery signals to marketing execution.

That creates a different competitive proposition from standalone GEO monitoring tools.

Instead of positioning GEO solely as an SEO-adjacent analytics category, Zeta is attempting to make AI visibility part of a broader customer acquisition and engagement stack. Its existing platform combines identity, proprietary data, AI and omnichannel activation, providing the infrastructure into which Senso's capabilities can be integrated.

The timing is also significant. AI assistants are increasingly becoming discovery interfaces, while personal AI agents could eventually perform more of the research and comparison work traditionally handled through search engines and retailer websites.

Zeta has already argued that GEO needs to account for factors such as context, authority, citations and changing model behavior rather than simply keyword rankings.

The acquisition therefore represents a bet that AI discovery will become measurable marketing infrastructure, not merely another content optimization channel.

For Zeta, the challenge will be turning that thesis into durable enterprise value. The company will need to demonstrate that deeper model connectivity produces more accurate brand representation, better AI discoverability and, ultimately, measurable customer outcomes.

If it succeeds, Senso could help Zeta move GEO from a relatively new optimization discipline into a more integrated layer connecting AI-generated discovery, customer intelligence and marketing activation.

Market Landscape

The market for AI visibility and GEO is developing alongside the rapid adoption of generative AI as a discovery interface. Zeta launched its GEO solution in 2025 with capabilities for monitoring brand visibility and sentiment across AI platforms, identifying citation gaps and hallucinations, optimizing content for LLM consumption and measuring AI share of voice.

That market is increasingly moving beyond a simple question of "Does AI mention my brand?"

Enterprise marketers need to understand why an AI system surfaces a brand, which sources it trusts, whether the information is accurate, which competitors appear instead and whether AI-generated discovery can be connected to downstream customer activity.

This creates overlap among SEO, AEO, GEO, content intelligence, customer data platforms, identity resolution and marketing activation. Zeta's acquisition strategy is notable because it already operates across several of those layers.

The emerging competitive advantage may therefore belong to platforms that can connect AI visibility with first-party customer intelligence rather than treating AI discovery as an isolated reporting function.

Strategic Outlook

Zeta's acquisition of Senso is strategically less about adding another AI feature and more about controlling an increasingly important part of the AI discovery data pipeline.

Senso provides engineering expertise and frontier-model connectivity. Zeta contributes proprietary customer data, identity, marketing intelligence and activation. Combined, those capabilities create the potential for a closed loop:

AI discovery → brand visibility → customer intelligence → marketing activation → measurable outcome.

That is a more ambitious proposition than conventional GEO software.

The biggest test will be whether Zeta can maintain accurate, model-specific visibility as AI systems evolve while proving that those insights actually improve acquisition, engagement or revenue. AI-generated answers change rapidly, and visibility can vary by model, query, context and user.

If Zeta can operationalize that complexity through its broader AI infrastructure, the Senso acquisition could help establish GEO as an integrated component of enterprise marketing technology rather than a standalone extension of SEO.
