AI call screening is creating a new obstacle for outbound sales teams: reaching another AI before reaching the customer. TwinsAI is responding with ScreenPass, an AI responder built into its parallel dialer that attempts to navigate call-screening assistants and hand calls to sales representatives when a person answers.
TwinsAI has launched ScreenPass, an AI call-screener responder designed to help B2B sales teams get through increasingly common AI-powered phone screening systems.
The company, which provides an AI parallel dialer for sales teams, says an analysis of millions of calls placed through its platform found that 28% of calls to mobile numbers in September were answered by an AI call screener rather than a person. The figure comes from TwinsAI's own call data, rather than an independent industry study.
That development creates a new problem for outbound sales. Apple's and Google's increasingly AI-assisted call-handling features can intercept calls from unknown numbers, effectively placing an automated gatekeeper between sales representatives and prospects.
ScreenPass is designed to respond to that gatekeeper. When an outbound call is intercepted by an AI screener, the system speaks with it on behalf of the sales representative and attempts to keep the call active until it is transferred to a live person.
TwinsAI says 12% of calls intercepted by a screener were subsequently passed through to a live person when ScreenPass responded. Based on the company's data, that translates to more than three additional live conversations for every 100 mobile numbers dialed.
The feature is particularly aimed at users of parallel dialers, where several outbound calls can be placed simultaneously. A salesperson cannot realistically pause one conversation to negotiate with an automated screening system while monitoring other lines for a human pickup.
That makes ScreenPass an interesting extension of the AI sales development stack. Rather than using AI solely to generate prospect lists, write outreach or qualify leads, TwinsAI is applying it to a previously overlooked part of the sales funnel: the telephone connection itself.
The timing reflects a broader change in how smartphones handle unsolicited calls. Call screening and unknown-caller protection are increasingly becoming part of mobile operating systems, giving consumers automated tools to filter unwanted communications. For sales organizations, the result is a new layer of interaction that must be navigated before traditional human-to-human selling begins.
The competitive implications are also significant. Sales engagement platforms from Salesforce, HubSpot and Outreach increasingly use AI for prospecting, personalization, workflow automation and sales intelligence. But the phone remains a distinct channel, where AI agents must deal with real-time conversations rather than simply manipulate CRM records or generate messages.
TwinsAI's approach effectively creates an AI-to-AI interaction at the beginning of an outbound call. The potential benefit is straightforward: sales representatives can continue working through their dial queues while an automated agent handles the initial screening step.
There are limits, however. ScreenPass's reported 12% pass-through rate is a company claim, and the company has not disclosed enough methodology to determine how the result compares with different mobile operating systems, industries or call types. Sales teams will also need to consider disclosure, consent and regulatory requirements as AI agents increasingly participate in outbound communications.
Still, the product points to a broader evolution in sales automation. As consumers deploy AI to protect their attention, sales organizations are beginning to deploy AI to negotiate access to it.
AI is increasingly being inserted into both sides of the sales interaction. Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft and other enterprise vendors are building AI agents that automate prospect research, lead qualification, follow-ups and CRM workflows. At the consumer level, smartphone platforms are adding AI-powered tools that filter or answer unknown calls.
This creates an emerging “agent versus agent” layer in B2B communication. Sales AI no longer only needs to identify the right prospect; it may need to establish communication with another automated system before a salesperson gets an opportunity to speak.
The challenge for vendors will be balancing automation with transparency and trust. If AI sales agents become indistinguishable from human callers, businesses could face greater scrutiny over disclosure and consent.
ScreenPass illustrates a broader shift from AI-assisted selling toward AI-mediated selling. The sales representative increasingly becomes the human decision-maker at the end of an automated chain involving prospect discovery, dialing, screening, qualification and CRM logging.
For enterprise sales teams, the value will depend on whether these systems increase meaningful conversations rather than simply increase connection metrics. The most useful platforms will ultimately need to demonstrate improvements in qualified opportunities, conversion rates and customer lifetime value.
