After 33 years as Prime Advertising + Design Inc., the agency is changing both its leadership structure and market positioning. The company is becoming Prime Marketing + Design LLC, with Steve Jung taking a leadership role alongside founder Mark J. Murray, while the agency expands its focus on marketing strategy, website development, technology and AI-powered search.
The transition marks more than a corporate name change. Prime Marketing + Design is positioning itself as a broader strategic marketing and technology partner for businesses that increasingly need to connect brand strategy, digital experiences and emerging AI-driven discovery.
Founded by Mark J. Murray 33 years ago, PRIME built its business around creative services, client relationships and community-focused marketing. Murray's mother, Marilyn J. Bina, later joined the company and became his longtime business partner. Both have played central roles in developing the agency's client and community relationships.
Under the new structure, Murray will remain involved in client growth, strategy, business development and relationships. Steve Jung will help lead the company's next phase, drawing on his experience operating M&G Trailer and Silver Spur Ranch, both of which have longstanding or recent relationships with PRIME.
Jung's arrival comes as agencies face pressure to demonstrate value beyond traditional creative execution. For many businesses, the agency relationship is shifting toward an integrated model in which marketing strategy, websites, content, analytics and technology are managed as connected parts of the customer-acquisition process.
That is the direction Prime Marketing + Design says it intends to pursue. The agency plans to operate as an outsourced marketing department or an extension of an existing internal team rather than simply as another specialist vendor.
The distinction is increasingly relevant as marketing stacks become more fragmented. Companies may use separate platforms for customer relationship management, analytics, advertising, content management and automation. An agency that can coordinate those functions can potentially reduce the organizational burden on smaller and mid-sized businesses.
The company is also placing greater emphasis on website strategy, design and development. That focus reflects a broader change in how websites function in the marketing funnel. A corporate website is no longer simply a digital brochure; it increasingly acts as a source of structured information for search engines, AI systems and prospective customers conducting independent research.
Prime Marketing + Design plans to help clients improve visibility across traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered discovery platforms. That includes strengthening websites, content and digital authority as consumers increasingly turn to generative AI tools to research companies and evaluate potential purchases.
The move puts the agency in a market increasingly shaped by Google, Microsoft's AI ecosystem and platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini and other generative search products. While traditional SEO remains important, agencies are now experimenting with approaches commonly described as answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO).
For enterprise and mid-market marketing teams, the practical challenge is not simply appearing in an AI-generated answer. Companies need authoritative, accessible and well-structured digital content that AI systems can understand and use when answering commercial questions.
Prime's repositioning therefore reflects a wider agency-market shift: marketing services are becoming increasingly intertwined with digital infrastructure. The agencies best positioned for that transition may be those capable of combining strategic consulting with technology implementation, rather than treating AI discovery as a standalone SEO service.
The agency's evolution comes as marketing teams increasingly consolidate fragmented capabilities around strategic partners. Gartner has projected that generative AI will significantly reshape how organizations discover information and interact with technology, while McKinsey has found that marketing and sales remain among the business functions seeing substantial generative-AI experimentation.
Prime's strategy also intersects with the growing convergence of SEO, content marketing, website development and AI search optimization. Platforms from Google, Microsoft, Adobe and Salesforce are increasingly incorporating AI into search, customer engagement, analytics and marketing workflows.
For agencies, that creates both an opportunity and a competitive challenge. Website development and traditional marketing services are mature categories, while AI visibility is still evolving rapidly. Prime will need to translate its AI-search positioning into measurable improvements in qualified traffic, discovery and customer acquisition if the new model is to differentiate it from larger digital agencies and specialized SEO firms.
Prime Marketing + Design's transition illustrates how smaller agencies are adapting to a marketing environment where creative services increasingly overlap with technology and data. Its decision to combine strategy, web development and AI discovery suggests an effort to move higher in the client value chain.
The model could be particularly relevant for businesses without large internal marketing-technology teams. Rather than assembling separate SEO, web, creative and marketing consultants, those organizations can increasingly look for partners capable of coordinating the entire digital marketing operation.
The next test will be execution: whether PRIME can turn its expanded technology and AI-search ambitions into repeatable services and measurable business outcomes.
