marketing artificial intelligence

Generic AI can answer a B2B marketing question in seconds. The harder problem is determining whether the answer reflects the realities of long sales cycles, complex buying groups, commercial accountability and B2B-specific marketing strategy. B2B Marketing is targeting that gap with Propolis AI, a specialist intelligence platform built into its Propolis membership.
B2B Marketing announced the launch of Propolis AI on September 24, positioning the platform as an AI-powered intelligence layer built around more than two decades of B2B marketing research, case studies, frameworks and practitioner expertise. The service is scheduled to become available to Propolis members in September 2026.
The core proposition is different from a general-purpose AI assistant. Propolis AI is designed specifically for B2B marketing, combining large language models with B2B Marketing's proprietary intelligence and content rather than relying solely on broadly available information. The company says the system draws on research, data journalism, conference material, case studies and established marketing frameworks.
Its Propolis Agent provides answers to B2B marketing questions, reusable prompts and document-upload capabilities for analysis and recommendations. Other components include diagnostic tools that assess marketing strategies, B2B-specific learning and accreditation, an intelligence library and access to the Propolis marketing community.
That combination points to a broader evolution in enterprise marketing AI. The market is moving from tools that simply generate text toward systems designed to support specific business decisions. For B2B teams, those decisions can involve positioning, demand generation, campaign planning, brand strategy, measurement and commercial justification.
The distinction matters because B2B marketing operates differently from many consumer marketing environments. Buying committees can involve multiple stakeholders, purchasing cycles can stretch across months, and marketing teams increasingly need to demonstrate contribution to revenue rather than simply campaign activity.
B2B Marketing's approach also places human expertise alongside automation rather than presenting AI as a replacement for marketers. The company says Propolis AI is intended to complement its existing expert guidance, training, events and community.
That positioning puts the platform into a competitive field that includes general-purpose AI assistants as well as marketing-specific platforms from companies such as Salesforce, Adobe and HubSpot. Those platforms increasingly incorporate AI into CRM, campaign management, analytics and customer engagement. Propolis AI is narrower by design: its differentiation is the specialization of the underlying knowledge and B2B marketing context.
For marketing leaders, that raises an important question beyond model performance: whether domain-specific AI can produce recommendations that are more actionable because they are grounded in a particular discipline.
AI adoption is accelerating, but organizational readiness remains uneven. Gartner's 2026 CMO Spend Survey found that CMOs allocate an average 15.3% of marketing budgets to AI initiatives, while only 30% reported mature or fully developed AI readiness capabilities.
Gartner also found that marketing leaders expect AI-driven automation of marketing work to rise from 16% in 2026 to 36% by 2028.
For B2B organizations, that creates demand for systems that can help teams apply AI within established commercial processes rather than simply generating more content. Propolis AI's specialist positioning addresses that requirement by combining AI assistance with B2B-specific research, frameworks and practitioner knowledge.
The platform's longer-term value will depend on how accurately its recommendations translate into measurable marketing decisions and whether teams trust its specialist intelligence enough to incorporate it into recurring workflows.
The launch reflects a growing segmentation of enterprise AI around vertical and functional expertise. General AI systems provide broad reasoning capabilities, while specialized platforms are increasingly attempting to add proprietary data, workflows and institutional knowledge.
For B2B marketing teams, that could make domain context an important part of AI evaluation. The question is shifting from Can AI produce an answer? to Can AI provide an answer grounded in the commercial realities of our discipline?
Propolis AI enters that transition with a deliberately focused proposition: applying generative AI to B2B marketing intelligence, learning and decision support.
