New Cloud Services Enable Faster Response Times for Residents and Innovative “911-in-a-Box” Hybrid Work Experience for Public Safety Agents Taking 1.3M Calls per Year

The City of Baltimore and NWN Carousel, the leading Cloud Communications Service Provider delivering integrated solutions for today’s Hybrid Work environments, today announced the implementation of their next-generation emergency 9-1-1 program for the city’s half million+ residents.

The next-generation 9-1-1 system will be equipped with the latest AI-based technology, including automatic text translation of 140 languages and robust geo-mapping, which can dramatically reduce emergency response times by up to 90%, while eliminating the need to engage a live translator.

Baltimore’s 9-1-1 specialists handle more than 1.3 million emergency calls each year ranging from car accidents, emergency responders in distress, natural disasters, people trapped in burning buildings, medical emergencies, etc. These public safety professionals give lifesaving instructions each time they receive these intense calls and the new translation services and geo-spatial routing provided by NWN Carousel’s cloud-based services will provide first responders the critical seconds and minutes needed to save lives.

“The ability to communicate immediately with Spanish speakers and other non-English speaking callers of our ever-growing diverse community will provide a new comfort level for Baltimore citizens who may have been reluctant to call 9-1-1 in the past because they felt that we would not understand them. Baltimore City 911 has joined the D.E.I. movement, by now providing the citizens with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion when utilizing 9-1-1,” said Tenea Reddick, City of Baltimore 9-1-1 Director.

“We’re proud to serve alongside Tenea and her team at the City of Baltimore on this most important program,” said Dan Tassone, NWN Carousel, CRO. “Knowing that our cloud services will help their 9-1-1 professionals and first responders save lives is at the core of our mission.”

NWN Carousel is also providing the City of Baltimore 9-1-1 system with increased security to thwart cyber-attacks and cloud-based technology to allow emergency call specialists flexibility to work from anywhere including the City’s 25 mobile command posts. The City will also use the mobile units, dubbed “9-1-1 in a box,” to create educational awareness for Baltimore’s emergency call system with students and other community members.

The $6.5 million dollar contract for the next-generation 9-1-1 system was provided through funding from the state of Maryland.

NWN Carousel has been serving the 9-1-1 Public Safety community since 2011. Over the past 12 years the company has expanded its practice to serve 250 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the US with 1900 call-taker/dispatcher positions in service today. NWN’s client base includes major US cities, County and local 9-1-1 PSAPs, State Police organizations, Police, Fire and EMS Dispatch Centers, large universities, and airport emergency dispatch operations.

NWN Carousel offers full-service solutions including system design, equipment sales, installation, and 24x7 service. Its service offers include E9-1-1 / NG9-1-1 Call Handling Solutions, GIS Mapping, mobile call-taker positions for disaster recovery and hybrid work environments, network design, telco carrier services, and a full suite of security services to protect these critical infrastructures.

Partnership provides customers with a fully managed, integrated, enterprise-grade streaming analytics solution that enables real-time decision-making

StarTree today announced it has joined the Connect with Confluent partner program. The partnership will make it easier than ever for organizations to stream data from anywhere to StarTree Cloud via Confluent Cloud, the cloud-native and complete data streaming platform built by the original creators of Apache Kafka® that spans multi-cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.

The Connect with Confluent partner program helps partners accelerate the development of real-time applications through a native integration with Confluent Cloud. Through the integration of StarTree Cloud with Confluent Cloud, customers will now be able to achieve an end-to-end real-time data streaming architecture that ingests and analyzes that data, faster than ever before. The solution opens up possibilities for new prospects as well as existing StarTree and Confluent customers, such as leading AI-powered customer intelligence platform Dialpad.

“The partnership brings to life StarTree’s vision of bringing real-time analytics to organizations faced with the challenge of processing massive volumes of rapidly changing data,” said Jen Murphy, Vice President, Channels & Alliances at StarTree. “StarTree is thrilled to join the Connect with Confluent program, thereby bringing this vision to fruition in a fully integrated solution that will help our customers take immediate action based on timely insights from real-time data analytics.”

The StarTree-Confluent partnership also marks a milestone in the parallel evolution of these two companies. Confluent Cloud is powered by Apache Kafka®, and StarTree Cloud is powered by Apache Pinot™. Both of these projects originated within LinkedIn and were open-sourced and submitted to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) to become top-level projects. From inception, Apache Pinot was designed to integrate directly with Apache Kafka, and today the two systems are often deployed side-by-side in open-source environments at companies like LinkedIn, Uber, Stripe, Walmart, and many more. This partnership makes it easy for organizations of all kinds to benefit from the integration of two fully managed, tested, and integrated real-time streaming data platforms from the companies driving the innovation behind these widely-adopted open source projects.

“Data streaming is now a critical business requirement as companies shift toward a digital-first approach to everything,” said Paul Mac Farland, Vice President, Partner and Innovation Ecosystem, Confluent. “However, many companies don’t have the resources needed to successfully bring a complete set of data streaming capabilities to their applications and end users. Connect with Confluent solves this problem, helping Confluent technology partners accelerate their customers’ data-driven ambitions so they can win in the modern digital era.”

FansXR Strikes Deal with TV Azteca to Bring Immersive Sports Viewing to Millions of Sports Fans in Mexico

FansXR Strikes Deal with TV Azteca to Bring Immersive Sports Viewing to Millions of Sports Fans in Mexico

advertising 19 Jul 2023

TV Azteca will integrate FansXR’s extended reality platform to allow sports broadcast viewers to choose their own viewing angle, leveraging complete control of multiple 360-degree and 2D cameras from digital devices via a web browser.

FansXR, an immersive digital entertainment company enabling fan-controlled views and gamification of live sports and entertainment broadcasts on second screens in augmented reality and in the metaverse, today announced an agreement with Mexico’s TV Azteca, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: AZTECACPO Latibex: XTZA), one of the two largest producers of Spanish-language television programming in the world, to deliver first-of-its-kind viewing experiences of Mexican sports and entertainment broadcasts.

TV Azteca will integrate FansXR’s extended reality platform to allow viewers of select, future TV Azteca sports and entertainment broadcasts to choose their own viewing angle, leveraging full control of multiple 360-degree and 2D cameras from digital devices via a web browser. Fans will also be able to view and interact with computer vision-powered player statistic overlays, as well as a selection of fan engagement functions including live chat, polling, merchandise, and betting.

Additionally, FansXR and TV Azteca will collaborate with sports and entertainment properties to unlock new second-screen advertising and sponsorship opportunities. TV Azteca Deportes - which owns professional football club Mazatlán F.C. - carries select matches from Liga MX, FIFA World Cup, FIFA Confederations Cup, Copa América, CONCACAF Gold Cup, the NFL, boxing, and lucha libre. As the top provider of sporting entertainment in Mexico, TV Azteca will utilize its experience in broadcasting premier events to improve the fan experience for millions of subscribers.

Guillermo Wilkins, CEO of TV Azteca Studios, said, "We have a unique opportunity to bring a new cutting-edge product to Mexico. Sports and entertainment audiences will have a personalized viewing experience while fans are offered an innovative way to engage with immersive content. This will also allow sponsors and advertisers a new way to approach their clients and fans in a way that only could happen when working with FansXR."

Matt Coleman, Co-Founder and CEO of FansXR, added, “The team at TV Azteca recognizes that fan engagement technologies are critical to the health of sports broadcasts, and that the future of watching games is now available. Today’s media landscape pressures sports leagues and broadcasters to find new ways to drive viewership, interactivity and media revenue. Thanks to advancements in computer vision technology, FansXR has the ability to offer a solution that keeps fans watching games longer through multiple camera angles, and real-time betting, gamification, and interactivity seamlessly integrated onto one screen in 5G.”

FansXR and TV Azteca’s partnership will serve as a best practice reference for the global sports market on how to simultaneously appeal to casual and avid sports fans in-venue and at home by offering complementary experiences. Recent consumer research affirms the need for this approach: Per Cisco’s “The New Fan Experience is Here,” more than 80% of fans desire a more immersive and content-rich experience when attending a live event, while a recent report from Deloitte indicated that 77% of all fans participate in at least one sports-related activity concurrently while watching a game at home.

Today’s announcement follows a series of successful in-stadium pilot activations that took place earlier in 2023 in Mexican sporting venues. FansXR and TV Azteca worked on-site in collaboration with local telecommunication companies and stadium management to test the technology and implement 5G, ensuring fans at the game and at home can experience the best of the FansXR platform with industry-best latency.

KnowBe4 and Egress have announced their partnership to provide organizations with a proactive approach to defending against advanced inbound and outbound threats, and transform the way in which they manage human risk in email. When a score reaches a higher risk threshold, products in the Intelligent Email Security platform automatically adapt their controls to defend against advanced phishing threats, human error, and data exfiltration. Following today’s announcement, Egress’ risk score will be enriched by KnowBe4’s user data.

Stu Sjouwerman, CEO at KnowBe4, stated: “We’re excited about the benefits this new partnership brings to our customers.
