ZoomInfo Analysis Shows Jersey Mike’s Franchise Consolidation Ahead of IPO

ZoomInfo has released new franchise market analysis indicating that Jersey Mike's franchise ownership is becoming increasingly concentrated among large multi-unit operators ahead of the restaurant chain's planned initial public offering (IPO). The findings highlight how data intelligence platforms are helping enterprise sales, investment, and franchise development teams better understand ownership structures, expansion activity, and acquisition trends across the U.S. franchise economy.

Go-to-market intelligence provider ZoomInfo has published new research suggesting that Jersey Mike's franchise system is rapidly consolidating into the hands of larger multi-unit operators as the sandwich chain prepares for its anticipated IPO. The analysis leverages ZoomInfo's proprietary franchise intelligence platform to map ownership patterns across thousands of franchise businesses and identify structural changes occurring within one of the fastest-growing quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands.

The report illustrates a broader trend in franchising, where experienced operators continue expanding through acquisitions and multi-unit ownership rather than relying solely on new franchise entrants. As franchise brands mature, institutional investors, private equity firms, and enterprise operators increasingly favor scalable ownership models capable of supporting operational consistency and long-term growth.

According to ZoomInfo, its franchise intelligence database tracks ownership across more than 600,000 U.S. franchise locations representing over 3,000 franchise brands, connecting each location to its operating entity and associated business decision-makers. The platform enables sales organizations, investors, suppliers, and marketing teams to identify franchise ownership structures rather than treating individual locations as independent businesses.

The Jersey Mike's analysis combines ZoomInfo's operator-level franchise data with publicly available Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) and the company's S-1 registration filing, providing a detailed view of ownership concentration, expansion activity, and franchise transactions.

The findings indicate that while Jersey Mike's has approximately 630 franchise owners, ownership is increasingly concentrated among larger operators. More than half of franchisees operate only one or two restaurants, yet the largest ownership groups control a disproportionate share of the network. ZoomInfo estimates that the top 10 franchise operators manage roughly 16% of U.S. locations, the top 25 account for approximately 25%, and the top 50 collectively oversee around 36% of the system.

Although no individual franchise group controls a dominant portion of the brand, the analysis suggests that operational influence is gradually shifting toward experienced multi-unit ownership organizations capable of scaling restaurant operations across multiple markets.

The report also highlights a significant increase in franchise acquisitions between operators. Store transfers rose to 218 during 2025, compared with 77 in 2024 and 96 in 2023, representing the highest level recorded over the past five years.

Perhaps more notable than the increase in transactions is what did not occur. Over the same five-year period, Jersey Mike's reportedly recorded no franchise terminations or non-renewals, indicating that ownership changes were driven primarily by acquisitions rather than business failures.

Franchise intelligence platforms aggregate ownership, location, and organizational data to help businesses understand franchise structures, identify decision-makers, and analyze expansion trends. These platforms support sales prospecting, market analysis, investment research, and strategic account planning across large franchise ecosystems.

ZoomInfo's research also points to continued organic expansion within the existing franchise network. Jersey Mike's has disclosed a development pipeline exceeding 1,600 planned locations, with more than 90% reportedly committed by existing franchise operators rather than new entrants. The company identified 190 locations listed as under construction at the end of 2025, primarily concentrated across Texas, California, and New York.

Using live business listing verification, ZoomInfo found that nearly 59% of those locations had already opened by July 2026, suggesting rapid execution of expansion plans and continued momentum across key geographic markets.

The analysis reflects broader developments occurring across franchise management and enterprise sales intelligence. Organizations increasingly rely on AI-powered commercial data platforms to identify ownership relationships, market opportunities, and expansion patterns that traditional business directories may not capture.

According to Gartner, AI-powered sales intelligence platforms are becoming increasingly important as organizations pursue more precise account-based strategies and data-driven commercial decision-making. IDC likewise reports continued enterprise investment in intelligent data platforms that improve customer targeting, operational planning, and revenue growth.

The competitive landscape includes sales intelligence providers alongside enterprise CRM ecosystems from Salesforce, Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, all of which continue expanding AI-driven data management and customer intelligence capabilities. Specialized providers such as ZoomInfo differentiate themselves through proprietary business datasets, advanced account resolution, and industry-specific market intelligence.

For enterprise marketing, sales, and investment teams, franchise ownership intelligence is becoming increasingly valuable as consolidation reshapes industries ranging from restaurants and retail to healthcare and automotive services. Understanding who ultimately controls franchise assets enables more targeted account-based marketing (ABM), partnership strategies, and commercial engagement.

As franchise ecosystems continue to mature, ownership analytics are expected to play a growing role in enterprise go-to-market strategies. ZoomInfo's latest analysis demonstrates how AI-powered commercial intelligence platforms are evolving beyond contact databases into strategic decision-support systems capable of revealing broader market trends before they become widely visible.

Market Landscape

The U.S. franchise sector is experiencing increased consolidation as multi-unit operators expand through acquisitions and organic development. At the same time, AI-powered sales intelligence platforms are transforming how enterprise organizations identify ownership structures, prioritize strategic accounts, and analyze market opportunities. These capabilities are becoming increasingly important for businesses operating in franchise-driven industries where decision-making is concentrated among a relatively small number of ownership groups.
