Xsolla Links Payment Providers With Game Developers Through Co-Marketing

Xsolla is preparing a self-service co-marketing tool that will let payment providers propose promotions directly to video game developers, turning payment performance data into potential customer engagement campaigns. The upcoming Co-Marketing Campaigns feature will operate within Xsolla Business Account for Payment Providers and support offers such as cashback promotions displayed at checkout. Xsolla plans to preview the capability at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas from October 18–21, 2026.

Turning Payment Data Into Marketing Partnerships

Payment providers often compete on transaction fees, coverage and checkout reliability. Xsolla's new initiative aims to give them another way to differentiate: promotions built around the games in which their payment methods are already used.

The company says its network includes more than 1,500 video game developers, creating a potential foundation for partnerships between payment providers and game businesses. Through Co-Marketing Campaigns, providers will be able to review payment-method performance across games, identify promising opportunities and submit campaign proposals without leaving their existing Xsolla business account.

The model brings together two parties with complementary commercial interests. A payment provider can promote a particular payment method, while a game developer can offer players an incentive to use it. A cashback offer, for example, could encourage eligible players to choose a participating payment method when purchasing a game-related product or service.

The feature is planned rather than generally available at announcement. Xsolla says the campaign workflow will be previewed at Money20/20 USA before the company makes it available to payment providers.

How the Co-Marketing Workflow Will Operate

Xsolla describes a four-stage process within its Business Account for Payment Providers.

First, providers use a dashboard to review which games perform well with their payment methods. They can then select a promotion, such as cashback for purchases made using a particular method in a specific game, and send a proposal to the developer.

The developer reviews the request and must approve it before the promotion goes live. Xsolla then handles technical setup, with campaigns appearing in Xsolla Pay Station checkout and on a dedicated page on its x.la domain. That arrangement is intended to reduce the operational work required to coordinate promotions across separate organizations.

The approval requirement is important. Rather than allowing payment providers to unilaterally place offers within a game developer's purchase flow, the process makes campaign participation a joint decision. It also gives both sides an opportunity to agree on the promotional mechanics before launch.

For marketing teams, the proposed workflow could make payment-method promotions easier to organize and connect them more directly with the purchase experience. However, the announcement does not yet provide campaign pricing, eligibility rules, expected conversion rates or performance benchmarks.

Banks Could Become More Active Gaming Partners

Xsolla is also developing additional ways for financial institutions to reach gaming audiences, including loyalty-point integrations, branded stores and cardholder promotions. The company has not yet disclosed detailed launch dates or terms for these initiatives.

The expansion points to a broader opportunity for banks and payment providers to connect financial products with digital commerce experiences. Gaming offers a setting for targeted rewards and payment incentives, but the effectiveness of these partnerships will depend on the value of the offer, its relevance to players and the ease of redemption.

Xsolla's existing commerce infrastructure could provide a bridge between payment services and game developers. Still, the upcoming tool's commercial impact will depend on whether enough providers and developers participate, whether promotions generate incremental purchases and whether the additional transaction volume justifies campaign costs.

Market Landscape

Gaming commerce brings together developers, payment processors, banks and players, but these groups do not always share the same marketing tools or commercial objectives. Xsolla's proposed system seeks to connect them through a common workflow for identifying opportunities, requesting promotions and deploying offers at checkout.

The approach sits at the intersection of payment technology, digital commerce and partner marketing. Cashback and loyalty incentives are established promotional mechanisms; the proposed difference is the ability to coordinate them through a platform that already supports game-related payments.

For payment providers, this could create an alternative to competing primarily on processing rates. For developers, co-funded or partner-supported promotions may provide another way to encourage payment-method adoption and engage customers. Neither outcome is guaranteed: campaign economics, player response and the degree of incremental spending will determine whether the model works in practice.

Strategic Outlook

Xsolla is positioning its commerce platform as more than payment infrastructure. By adding campaign discovery and coordination, it is seeking to help payment providers participate in player engagement while giving developers a way to approve and deploy promotions through an existing checkout ecosystem.

The key test will be measurement. Providers and developers will need to assess redemption rates, incremental transaction volume, customer acquisition or retention, promotional costs and any impact on checkout conversion. They will also need clear rules for eligibility, campaign funding and customer communications.

As Xsolla previews the tool, the main question is whether its existing network can turn the convenience of a shared platform into repeatable commercial partnerships. The announcement establishes the proposed workflow; actual adoption and performance will become clearer once campaigns are available.
