marketing demand generation

Tactera Digital has published performance data from 11 months of its own LinkedIn outbound campaigns, offering a look at how account targeting, buying signals, personalized messaging and human-led follow-up can affect B2B pipeline generation.
The LinkedIn outreach agency said it contacted 11,260 prospects during the period, generating a 27% connection acceptance rate, 1,478 replies, 510 marketing-qualified leads (MQLs), 247 sales-qualified leads (SQLs) and $700,000 in pipeline value.
Rather than focusing primarily on outreach volume, the company says its operating model evaluates campaigns based on qualified conversations and resulting pipeline.
The results are self-reported and represent Tactera Digital's own outbound activity. They should therefore be viewed as a case study rather than a benchmark for the wider B2B marketing market.
LinkedIn has become an important channel for B2B prospecting because professional identity, company affiliation and job responsibilities are visible within the platform.
However, generating commercial opportunities requires more than sending connection requests.
Tactera Digital's published methodology divides its outbound process into eight stages, beginning with market and ideal customer profile (ICP) definition and ending with a weekly review of campaign performance.
The first step is to identify companies that fit the client's offering. The agency says previous won accounts are also used to help refine the initial ICP.
The second step introduces buying-window detection. Rather than contacting every company that meets the ICP criteria, campaigns prioritize organizations displaying signals that may indicate a more relevant time for outreach.
That distinction addresses a common problem in B2B prospecting: a prospect can be a good theoretical customer but still be unlikely to buy at a particular moment.
The third stage focuses on stakeholder coverage.
Instead of treating one individual as the representative of an account, Tactera Digital identifies people who may experience the business problem, control budgets or influence purchasing decisions.
This reflects the increasingly complex structure of B2B buying groups. Multiple stakeholders can participate in vendor evaluation, meaning that reaching a single contact may not be enough to create a qualified opportunity.
The agency then applies personalized messaging to each campaign segment.
Connection notes, initial messages and follow-ups are written for individual prospects rather than relying on identical copy across unrelated audiences.
That approach trades scale for relevance. It can reduce the number of prospects an outreach team contacts, but the objective is to increase the commercial value of each conversation.
Tactera Digital's fifth stage covers connection campaigns and sending limits.
The company says it uses profile visits and connection requests while keeping activity within LinkedIn's limits. It also says the subsequent conversation is handled by people rather than automated bots or responders.
This is significant as AI and automation tools increasingly enter outbound sales workflows.
Automation can increase the number of contacts a team reaches, but high-volume outreach can also produce repetitive messaging and irrelevant follow-ups. For B2B brands, that can affect sender reputation and the quality of prospect interactions.
Tactera Digital's model instead emphasizes human interpretation once a prospect responds.
The sixth stage, reply handling and cadence, requires every response to be assessed based on what the prospect actually says. Prospects asking to reconnect later are followed up according to their stated timeframe, while referrals are pursued and opt-out requests end the conversation.
Qualification is the seventh stage.
Before campaigns begin, Tactera Digital says it establishes qualification criteria with the client. Conversations that meet those requirements are then handed to the client's sales calendar along with relevant company, prospect and conversation information.
This creates a distinction between engagement metrics and sales outcomes.
A high reply rate can indicate that messaging attracts attention, but it does not necessarily demonstrate commercial value. Qualification rates, sales opportunities and pipeline provide a closer connection to business results.
Tactera Digital's reported figures illustrate that funnel progression.
Of the 11,260 prospects contacted, 1,478 replied, equivalent to roughly 13.1% of contacted prospects. The 510 reported MQLs represent about 4.5% of prospects contacted, while 247 SQLs represent approximately 2.2%.
Based on the company's figures, about 48.4% of MQLs progressed to SQL status.
These calculations are derived from Tactera Digital's published totals and do not establish causation or indicate how the results compare with other outbound channels.
The eighth stage is a weekly review and reset.
Tactera Digital says its teams re-rank accounts, compare campaign segments, retire weaker messaging and allocate additional outreach capacity toward segments generating qualified conversations.
That feedback loop is important because outbound campaigns can deteriorate when teams continue targeting the same audiences with unchanged messaging.
A regular review can also help separate temporary fluctuations from consistent performance patterns.
The company says it plans to publish additional findings covering audience segments, buying signals and qualification rates as its campaigns accumulate larger samples.
B2B outbound marketing is increasingly positioned between sales engagement, marketing automation and account-based marketing.
Platforms such as LinkedIn provide access to professional audiences, while sales-engagement and CRM platforms enable prospect management, sequencing and measurement.
AI is adding another layer, with vendors offering automated prospect research, message generation, lead scoring and conversational agents.
The resulting competitive question is no longer simply how many prospects a company can reach. It is whether technology can identify the right accounts, recognize buying intent, personalize engagement and connect activity to measurable pipeline without sacrificing relevance.
Tactera Digital's methodology represents one response: constrain outreach volume, increase account and stakeholder selection, maintain human involvement and evaluate success through qualified pipeline.
The company's 11-month results reinforce a broader shift in B2B demand generation from activity metrics toward revenue-linked measurement.
Connection rates and reply rates remain useful diagnostic indicators, but they provide limited insight into commercial impact unless they translate into qualified opportunities.
Tactera Digital reports that its broader client work has generated more than 4,000 qualified sales meetings, over $40 million in pipeline and $4.5 million in closed client revenue this year. Those figures are also company-reported and are not independently verified in the announcement.
For B2B marketers, the more relevant lesson is methodological rather than numerical: prospect selection, timing, stakeholder coverage, message relevance and qualification need to work together.
As AI increases the efficiency of outbound execution, the value of human judgment may increasingly shift toward deciding who to contact, why now matters and what qualifies as a meaningful commercial conversation.
