AI is changing how cross-border e-commerce brands approach customer acquisition, website optimization and conversion, prompting independent-site sellers to look beyond traditional search advertising. A Shenzhen industry salon scheduled for September 11 will bring together e-commerce, advertising and performance marketing professionals to examine how emerging traffic channels and AI-powered workflows could reshape independent e-commerce growth.
Titled “Breaking Through and Reframing: New Traffic Channels and Conversion Strategies for the Next Era of Independent E-Commerce,” the event is hosted by independent e-commerce platform SHOPLINE, co-hosted by AppLovin and StrandX, and organized by Cifnews. The closed-door event is expected to bring together approximately 80 industry professionals, primarily independent-site sellers, brands and performance marketing specialists.
The event comes as e-commerce marketers face a more fragmented customer-acquisition environment. Search remains an important source of traffic, but brands are increasingly exploring additional channels as competition for search advertising intensifies.
The technology stack behind independent commerce is also expanding beyond website creation. SHOPLINE currently provides merchants with traffic acquisition reporting that can analyze sources including search engines, social platforms and direct visits, alongside metrics such as sessions, checkout activity and orders.
The platform has also been expanding its AI capabilities. In September 2026, SHOPLINE introduced an AI Smart Product Recommendation feature that uses customer purchase history and product information to recommend relevant products and provide conversion-related performance metrics.
Against that backdrop, the Shenzhen salon is positioned around a broader question: how can AI move from individual productivity tools into a more connected growth infrastructure spanning acquisition, merchandising, content and conversion?
The salon will focus on four areas: AI applications across the e-commerce value chain, new traffic channels, conversion and trust, and seller case studies.
AI applications discussed at the event are expected to include site building, product selection and content creation. The emphasis is on reducing inefficient marketing expenditure and creating more automated growth processes.
Traffic diversification will be another major theme, with AppLovin bringing a perspective on acquisition opportunities beyond search advertising. AppLovin already provides an integration between its advertising platform and SHOPLINE, enabling merchants to connect their stores with AppLovin Ads.
The conversion discussion will shift attention from acquisition alone to fulfillment, after-sales service and consumer trust. For cross-border brands, the ability to convert traffic into transactions can depend on the entire customer journey rather than the advertising click.
The event therefore reflects a wider MarTech trend: customer acquisition, AI, commerce infrastructure and conversion analytics are increasingly converging into a single growth stack.
For independent e-commerce businesses, the strategic challenge will be determining which emerging channels can deliver incremental customers while maintaining measurable economics. AI may improve efficiency across the funnel, but sustainable growth will still depend on attribution, customer experience, localization and measurable conversion outcomes.
