Southeast Asia's professional audiovisual market is getting a new regional meeting point as Prolight + Sound prepares to launch its Bangkok edition for the first time. Scheduled for September 30 to October 2, 2026, at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre, Prolight + Sound Bangkok will bring international AV, lighting, music and entertainment technology companies together with buyers across the region's rapidly expanding events, tourism, MICE and entertainment industries.
The debut of Prolight + Sound Bangkok is more than a new trade show on the industry calendar. It reflects the growing importance of Southeast Asia as a market for professional audiovisual infrastructure, live entertainment technology and integrated event solutions.
The inaugural Prolight + Sound Bangkok (PLSB) is expected to attract more than 150 international exhibitors and over 5,000 trade visitors. Companies from 11 countries and regions have confirmed participation, spanning Europe and Asia, including Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
The event is designed to connect global technology suppliers with distributors, system integrators, production companies, venue operators and end users across Southeast Asia.
For the professional AV industry, that regional approach is significant. Demand for sophisticated sound systems, intelligent lighting, staging infrastructure, immersive experiences and integrated event technology is being driven by a combination of tourism, concerts, corporate events, exhibitions and the expansion of the MICE sector.
Bangkok provides a natural location for a Southeast Asian professional AV marketplace. Thailand has a substantial tourism and events economy, while Bangkok functions as a transportation and business hub connecting markets across ASEAN.
The exhibition will showcase technologies spanning professional audio, lighting, staging, trussing, connectivity and control systems.
Exhibitors include companies such as ACME, ETC, HK Audio, Neutrik, Pharos Architectural Controls, PENN ELCOM, Robe Lighting and Sixty82 Doughty Asia, alongside numerous regional manufacturers and technology suppliers.
The diversity of exhibitors is important because modern AV deployments increasingly require integrated systems rather than standalone equipment.
A concert venue, hotel ballroom, convention center or entertainment attraction may need professional audio, architectural lighting, digital displays, networking, stage infrastructure and centralized control. System interoperability therefore becomes as important as individual product performance.
That trend is pushing the professional AV market closer to enterprise technology disciplines such as networking, automation, cloud management and intelligent control.
A dedicated Singapore Pavilion will add another layer to the event's regional focus.
Organized by the Pro Audiovisual & Lighting Integration Association of Singapore (AVLIAS), the pavilion will feature companies including Acoustic & Lighting System, EP-Tec Solutions, MA Lighting, New Wave Display, Robe Lighting, Total Solution Marketing and Unearthed Productions.
Singapore has developed a strong position in professional AV integration, entertainment technology and large-scale event production. Its participation highlights how Southeast Asian markets are increasingly interconnected rather than operating as isolated national ecosystems.
For manufacturers, that creates opportunities to build regional distribution networks and partnerships. For buyers, it can provide access to a wider pool of technologies and integration expertise without having to travel to multiple international trade markets.
ACME's Sales Director Yanqiang Yang said the company intends to use the event to connect directly with regional distributors and end users and allow buyers to evaluate its products.
HK Audio's Chief Sales Officer Christian Jordan similarly described the event as an opportunity to strengthen the company's Southeast Asian presence.
One of the more important aspects of the PLSB program is its focus on emerging technology.
The event's fringe program will include sessions covering artificial intelligence, immersive experiences, concerts and smart AV integration. Those topics point toward a wider transformation in professional entertainment technology.
AI is beginning to influence areas such as content production, event operations, audio processing, audience analytics and workflow automation. At the same time, immersive technologies are changing how audiences experience concerts, exhibitions, museums, retail environments and destination entertainment.
The convergence is creating new requirements for AV professionals. Production teams increasingly need to understand not only microphones, speakers and lighting fixtures but also software, digital control systems, networking and data-driven workflows.
For enterprise operators, this means AV infrastructure is increasingly becoming part of the broader technology stack supporting customer experience.
A hotel, convention center or entertainment venue can use integrated AV systems as a competitive differentiator, while event organizers can use technology to create more personalized and interactive experiences.
Technology investment alone does not guarantee successful AV deployments. Skilled engineers, designers and production specialists remain essential for configuring complex systems.
PLSB will address that challenge through a three-day masterclass hosted by the Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (TPQI), covering sound engineering, acoustic design and live production.
The program is particularly relevant as Southeast Asia's entertainment and events industry expands. New equipment and integrated systems require professionals who can design, operate and maintain increasingly sophisticated installations.
AVLIAS will also host Future of the ASEAN Pro AVL, a program focused on regional business opportunities and cross-border collaboration.
That emphasis on skills and knowledge transfer could prove as important as the exhibition floor itself. Southeast Asia's AV market is fragmented across national markets, and common technical practices, partnerships and professional standards can help companies scale more efficiently.
Southeast Asia's professional AV opportunity is closely tied to broader growth in tourism, entertainment, live events, hospitality and MICE activity.
The region's expanding infrastructure is creating demand for permanent installations as well as temporary event-production equipment. Convention centers, hotels, theme parks, concert venues and retail destinations increasingly require integrated audio, lighting, video and control systems.
The emergence of a dedicated Bangkok marketplace suggests suppliers see enough regional demand to justify a localized industry platform.
Competition, however, will extend beyond hardware. Vendors increasingly need to differentiate through software integration, interoperability, technical support, training and system-level solutions.
Prolight + Sound Bangkok's success will depend on whether it can become more than a three-day exhibition and establish itself as a recurring business and knowledge hub for Southeast Asia.
The combination of international exhibitors, regional distributors, technical training and discussions around AI and immersive experiences gives the event several potential growth paths.
If the show succeeds in connecting manufacturers with system integrators and end users across ASEAN, Bangkok could become an important meeting point for the region's professional AV and entertainment technology ecosystem.
