Moburst Launches Intercept to Turn Social Conversations Into Sales Leads

Social media is becoming a place where consumers openly describe what they want to buy, what they are comparing and where they need recommendations. Moburst is targeting that lower-funnel behavior with Intercept, an AI-powered social listening platform designed to identify purchase-intent conversations and help marketing and sales teams respond before those opportunities disappear.

Traditional social listening has largely focused on brand mentions, sentiment and emerging trends. Intercept takes a more commercial approach: finding conversations that indicate someone may already be considering a purchase.

Moburst says the platform monitors Reddit, LinkedIn, X, Quora, Pinterest, Threads, Instagram, Facebook and other social networks, using AI to filter large volumes of posts and prioritize conversations based on their apparent buying intent.

The distinction is important. A consumer mentioning a brand is not necessarily a prospect. Someone asking which enterprise software to buy, requesting recommendations for a product category or comparing competing solutions is much closer to the bottom of the funnel.

Intercept categorizes these opportunities, with the highest-intent conversations labeled “Gold Opportunities.” It then provides the relevant post alongside a suggested response that a team member can use or adapt.

The workflow starts with relatively little configuration. A brand enters its website and ideal customer profile. Intercept then evaluates social posts against that profile continuously, surfacing matching conversations in a daily report.

The platform also supports multilingual monitoring and translation, which could make the approach more useful for international brands that otherwise need separate teams or tools to monitor conversations across different markets.

Moburst is positioning the product as a real-time lead-generation system rather than another social-media dashboard. Its dashboard tracks estimated pipeline value, ROI, brand reach and share of voice, while a feature called Missed Opps attempts to recover older conversations that teams did not act on quickly enough.

The concept is gaining relevance as social platforms increasingly influence product discovery and consideration. Reddit's 2025 research found that 71% of people who discovered a brand online or offline subsequently researched it on Reddit, while 74% said Reddit helped them make faster purchase decisions.

That makes social conversations particularly valuable for brands selling products that require research or peer validation. The challenge is identifying intent without overwhelming teams with irrelevant mentions.

This is where AI changes the economics of social listening. Humans can read a limited number of conversations; software can continuously scan them. But automated volume is only useful if the system can distinguish meaningful buying signals from generic discussion, spam and casual recommendations.

Intercept also enters a competitive market. Platforms such as Brandwatch, Sprinklr and Meltwater already provide extensive social listening and consumer-intelligence capabilities. The differentiation for Moburst is its explicit focus on purchase intent and sales response, rather than social intelligence as a broad category.

The strategy also complements Moburst's other AI initiatives. Its Answerburst business focuses on helping brands appear in AI-generated recommendations from systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Intercept approaches the customer journey from the other direction: identifying people already discussing a potential purchase.

For marketers, that creates an interesting combination. One capability aims to improve a company's visibility when AI systems answer questions; the other attempts to capture demand when consumers ask those questions publicly on social platforms.

The model is particularly relevant as social discovery and search continue to converge. Reddit says more than half of shoppers globally now conduct a final purchase check on the platform, while one in four say they immediately purchase after a decision is validated there.

Intercept's real test will therefore be conversion quality. Finding conversations is relatively easy at scale; consistently identifying genuine prospects and turning timely responses into measurable pipeline is considerably harder.

Market Landscape

Social listening is evolving from reputation monitoring toward revenue intelligence. Marketers increasingly want tools that identify not just what consumers are saying, but what those conversations mean for acquisition, retention and competitive positioning.

Reddit's research illustrates why the shift matters. The platform reported that 88% of surveyed users had made a purchase based on information found on Reddit in the previous year.

The competitive landscape remains crowded. Brandwatch, Sprinklr and Meltwater offer broad social intelligence, while sales-intelligence and intent-data platforms approach buyer identification through other signals. Moburst's strategy is narrower: detect public conversations where buying intent is already explicit and accelerate the response.

That focus could be attractive to performance marketing and demand-generation teams, but it also creates challenges around false positives, platform access, privacy expectations and the tone of brand responses. A poorly timed or overly promotional reply can damage the very conversation a company is trying to monetize.

Strategic Outlook

Intercept reflects a broader shift toward real-time customer acquisition. Instead of waiting for prospects to fill out a form, click an advertisement or enter a CRM workflow, AI systems can increasingly identify demand while it is still being expressed publicly.

The strongest implementations will likely combine social intent with first-party customer data, CRM history and marketing automation. That could allow companies to distinguish a genuinely new prospect from an existing customer, prioritize high-value accounts and route qualified conversations to the appropriate sales or marketing team.

Moburst's larger AI strategy suggests it sees both sides of the emerging discovery market: getting brands recommended by AI systems and finding consumers who are already signaling that they want to buy.

Top Insights

  • Intercept turns social listening into an acquisition workflow, prioritizing purchase-intent conversations so marketing and sales teams can respond while prospects remain actively engaged.
  • AI-based intent scoring addresses social-media scale, helping teams filter enormous volumes of conversations instead of manually searching multiple platforms for potential buyers.
  • Reddit is particularly important for high-intent discovery, with research showing consumers increasingly use community conversations to validate products before purchasing.
  • Moburst is building complementary AI capabilities, with Answerburst targeting AI-generated recommendations while Intercept focuses on capturing demand expressed across social platforms.
  • Conversion quality will determine Intercept's value, because identifying genuine purchase intent matters more than simply increasing the number of social conversations surfaced.
