MNTN has integrated Tealium’s customer data platform (CDP) with MNTN Matched™, enabling advertisers to activate first-party customer audiences directly in connected TV (CTV) campaigns. The integration combines Tealium’s real-time audience updates with MNTN’s AI-powered household targeting, aiming to improve audience relevance, reduce manual data transfers, and help advertisers distinguish existing customers from net-new prospects.
MNTN and Tealium have introduced a native integration that connects first-party customer data with AI-powered connected TV advertising. Available now to MNTN advertisers with an active Tealium account and at least one audience segment, the integration allows marketers to use Tealium-defined audiences alongside MNTN Matched™ within the same Performance TV campaign.
The announcement addresses a persistent challenge in digital advertising: translating customer data into timely, actionable audience decisions across channels. While customer data platforms consolidate and organize information into usable segments, advertisers still need ways to activate those segments in media environments such as connected TV without relying on repeated manual exports and uploads.
MNTN Matched uses the company's proprietary AI-powered targeting technology to identify households it considers more likely to convert. With Tealium audiences available directly within the platform, advertisers can combine their own customer segments with MNTN's targeting capabilities, adding first-party signals to campaign audience selection.
The integration also supports dynamic audience updates. As people enter or leave Tealium-defined segments, those changes can inform whom advertisers target or exclude on TV. For acquisition campaigns, marketers can use this capability to suppress existing customers as audience membership changes, helping direct prospecting budgets toward potential new customers.
This is particularly relevant for brands managing complex customer journeys. A customer may move from prospect to purchaser, become eligible for retention messaging, or enter a segment based on recent activity. Keeping those audience definitions current can help reduce the disconnect between customer status and advertising exposure.
The integration is designed to reduce operational friction by eliminating manual audience exports and list uploads. It also allows brands to use the same Tealium-defined groups across connected TV, search, social, and email, supporting more consistent audience strategies across marketing channels.
Tealium can hash email addresses and phone numbers before sending them to MNTN for audience matching. Hashing transforms identifiers into coded values, but it should not be treated as a guarantee of anonymity or complete privacy protection. The announcement does not specify the full technical architecture, data-retention rules, or other controls governing the exchange, so advertisers should evaluate those details as part of their privacy and security reviews.
The broader strategic opportunity is to make first-party data more useful in media environments where audience selection and campaign measurement can be challenging. CTV combines television-style reach with digital advertising workflows, but its value depends in part on whether advertisers can connect audience decisions to meaningful business outcomes.
MNTN says its Matched technology has delivered, on average, six times more site visits and three times more revenue than traditional TV targeting. These are company-reported performance claims; the announcement does not provide the methodology, comparison group, measurement period, or independent validation needed to assess how broadly the results apply.
The integration arrives as advertisers increase investment in streaming video while demanding clearer links between media spending and business results. The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) projected U.S. connected TV advertising spending to grow 13.8% in 2026 in its January outlook, reflecting the channel’s expanding role in performance-led marketing.
That growth raises the importance of audience infrastructure. Customer data platforms such as Tealium help marketers organize and activate customer information, while advertising platforms use those signals to inform targeting, exclusions, and campaign optimization. The commercial challenge is making the connection reliable, measurable, and privacy-conscious.
One implementation detail merits attention: MNTN’s announcement describes Tealium audiences as refreshing in real time, but its integration documentation says audiences sync automatically once per day and may take up to 24 hours to become fully available. Advertisers should confirm the operational refresh cadence and how quickly audience changes affect live campaigns before relying on the integration for time-sensitive exclusions.
The integration reflects a broader shift from collecting first-party data to activating it across paid media. Its value will depend less on the presence of an AI targeting feature alone and more on whether marketers can supply accurate audience signals, maintain effective suppression rules, and measure incremental outcomes.
For enterprise marketing teams, several questions remain important: How consistently do audience matches translate across devices and households? How quickly do removals propagate? What measurement method supports reported performance improvements? And what controls govern identifiers, retention, access, and deletion?
The announcement establishes a more direct activation path between Tealium and MNTN, but it does not independently demonstrate incremental lift or explain how performance varies by campaign, industry, or audience size. Advertisers should treat the reported results as vendor claims and validate them through controlled tests and campaign-level measurement.
First-party data activation: Tealium audiences can be used alongside MNTN Matched, connecting customer data management with AI-powered connected TV campaign targeting.
Automated audience management: The integration reduces manual list uploads and supports customer exclusions, helping teams maintain audience definitions as customer relationships change.
CTV investment opportunity: IAB’s 2026 outlook projected 13.8% growth in U.S. connected TV advertising spending, increasing the importance of measurable targeting strategies.
Privacy requires scrutiny: Hashing email addresses and phone numbers can support audience matching, but does not by itself establish that all privacy and security risks are addressed.
Performance claims need validation: MNTN reports stronger site visits and revenue than traditional TV targeting, but the announcement does not provide enough methodology to independently assess those figures.
