The exhibition is jointly organized by China's Ministry of Commerce Trade Development Bureau, DEXPO Shanghai Industry & Commerce Exhibition Co., Ltd., and Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd.
The event reflects broader changes in global supply chains. As manufacturers diversify production locations and invest in more resilient operations, ASEAN countries are attracting increasing interest due to their growing industrial bases, strategic location, and expanding domestic markets. Nearly 150 companies from China and international markets are expected to participate, covering an exhibition area of approximately 5,000 square meters. The event's focus extends beyond product demonstrations to practical industrial applications and business collaboration, reflecting growing demand for technologies that improve productivity, energy efficiency, and operational resilience.
One of the defining trends shaping manufacturing today is the integration of AI and industrial automation into production environments. Manufacturers are increasingly deploying intelligent control systems, machine vision, robotics, predictive maintenance platforms, and industrial data analytics to optimize operations and reduce costs.
Technology providers such as Shenzhen Inovance Technology, Bodor Laser, Han's Laser, and HSG Laser are expected to demonstrate systems designed to support these goals. Products on display include laser cutting technologies, industrial drives, smart control systems, and automated manufacturing equipment capable of supporting both precision manufacturing and large-scale industrial production.
Real-world implementations are also becoming a major focus. For example, Han's Laser has deployed a high-power laser cutting system in Thailand's Chonburi province, while DENAIR's oil-free air compressor technologies have reportedly helped manufacturers improve energy efficiency. In Vietnam, THACO has expanded its use of automated laser equipment to support production operations.

For manufacturers, the transition toward smart factories increasingly requires integrated technology ecosystems rather than isolated automation tools. Major technology companies including Microsoft, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Siemens, and Schneider Electric continue investing in industrial AI, edge computing, and cloud-based manufacturing platforms that enable real-time production monitoring and intelligent automation.
According to McKinsey & Company, manufacturers adopting digital technologies can significantly improve productivity, operational efficiency, and energy management. Meanwhile, IDC forecasts continued growth in spending on industrial automation, AI, and digital transformation technologies as organizations modernize manufacturing infrastructure.
IME 2026 also aims to facilitate cross-border collaboration through a series of forums, networking sessions, and business-matching events connecting Chinese and Thai companies.
