Digital Web Solutions (DWS) has launched its Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) services across the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, extending its search marketing offering to help brands appear in AI-generated recommendations. The service targets platforms including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Copilot, as businesses adapt their digital strategies to search experiences that increasingly provide synthesized answers rather than conventional lists of links.
Digital Web Solutions (DWS) is expanding into generative search optimization across four international markets, offering services designed to help brands become more visible in answers produced by AI assistants. The launch reflects a growing shift in digital marketing: visibility increasingly means not just ranking in search results, but being mentioned, cited or recommended when potential customers ask AI tools for information.
Traditional search engine optimization (SEO) focuses on improving a website’s ability to rank in search results. GEO extends that work to the systems that retrieve information and generate conversational answers. DWS says its service combines research into the questions buyers ask, content structuring, schema markup and structured data, alongside monitoring to track when AI systems mention a client.
The company supports visibility efforts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Copilot. It says GEO is designed to complement existing SEO programs, allowing businesses to pursue traditional search rankings and AI citations through a coordinated content strategy rather than treating them as separate channels.
The shift comes as conventional search behavior changes. Research from SparkToro and Similarweb, reported by Search Engine Land in June 2026, found that 68.01% of Google searches in the United States ended without a click during the first four months of 2026, up from 60.45% in 2024. The figures cover searches that did not generate a click to another website, including organic and paid results.
That trend creates a measurement challenge for marketers. A brand may rank prominently in conventional search results yet remain absent from an AI-generated shortlist. Conversely, an AI system may mention a company without sending a visitor to its website. Marketing teams therefore need to distinguish rankings, AI mentions, source citations, referral traffic and downstream business outcomes.
DWS says it has been running GEO programs for its own clients for 18 months. According to the company, average citations increased by 25%, brand mentions by 30% and share of voice by 12% across accounts. These are company-reported results; the announcement does not disclose the number of accounts measured, the baseline period, the methodology or whether the gains were independently verified.
Dawood Bukhari, CEO of Digital Web Solutions, said the service addresses the risk that customers using AI assistants may not encounter brands that previously earned high Google rankings.
The wider industry challenge is that GEO remains an evolving discipline rather than a predictable replacement for SEO. Research published in 2026 highlights differences between AI platforms and cautions that visibility, citations and actual influence on generated answers are distinct outcomes.
Content structure and clear, evidence-rich information can help make material easier to retrieve and use, but no single tactic guarantees recommendations across every AI system.
For businesses, DWS’s launch offers another service option as they adapt their search strategies. The key test will be whether improved AI visibility leads to stronger brand consideration, qualified traffic and measurable commercial results—not simply more mentions in generated answers.
GEO is emerging alongside SEO, answer engine optimization and broader AI visibility services. Agencies are developing approaches to help brands become discoverable in conversational search, where answers may draw on brand-owned websites, editorial coverage, product listings and other third-party sources.
A 2025 research paper on generative engine optimization found that AI search systems can favor earned media and authoritative third-party sources differently from traditional search engines. That suggests optimizing a company website alone may not be sufficient for consistent AI visibility.
DWS’s offering combines content optimization and technical markup with ongoing monitoring. Its competitive value will depend on whether it can demonstrate repeatable results across different AI platforms, industries and query types.
For marketing leaders, GEO adds another measurement layer to organic search strategy. Useful reporting should separate brand mentions from citations, citation accuracy, referral visits and conversions. These measures describe different stages of visibility and should not be treated as interchangeable.
DWS’s reported gains in citations, mentions and share of voice provide an initial indication of its approach, but more information about its sample size and measurement methodology would help buyers assess those claims.
Businesses should also continue investing in technically sound websites, useful original content and credible third-party coverage. GEO can complement these foundations, but the volatility of AI-generated answers means brands should avoid assuming that improvements will transfer consistently between platforms.

Marketers should measure AI visibility alongside referral traffic, conversions and citation accuracy rather than relying on mentions alone.
