Cordial has launched a headless customer data platform (CDP) that lets marketers access and analyze real-time customer data through AI assistants including Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, as well as custom-built agents. The release advances Cordial’s move toward a headless marketing platform, aiming to let teams work with customer data without relying on a single vendor interface.
Cordial’s new headless CDP is designed to bring customer data and audience analysis into the AI tools marketers increasingly use for planning and decision-making. Through the platform’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) capabilities, marketers can explore customer information, identify audience opportunities and develop campaign recommendations from supported AI assistants or custom agents.
The launch addresses a familiar problem in enterprise marketing technology: customer data, analytics and campaign tools are often distributed across separate systems. Marketers may need to move between a CDP, commerce platform, analytics tools and data warehouses to understand customer behavior and decide what action to take.
Cordial says its headless approach allows marketers to access its real-time customer data from AI interfaces rather than being tied to the platform’s own user interface. The company also says the CDP can work alongside information from systems including Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Databricks and Snowflake.
Brands including Boot Barn and Torrid are already using the headless CDP, according to Cordial. The company says these organizations use AI models to explore audiences, identify opportunities and receive next-best-action recommendations through the assistants they work with.
Cordial outlined four areas of functionality with the launch.
First, marketers can use AI assistants to plan personalized programs based on real-time Cordial data. This is intended to connect audience analysis with campaign planning in the same working environment.
Second, the platform can recommend high-value audience segments using AI-derived attributes such as category affinities, discount scores and purchase propensity. These signals can help marketers identify groups that may respond to particular products, offers or messaging.
Third, Cordial says its system can analyze large combinations of customer, product and message data to surface potential revenue opportunities. It can recommend campaigns, segments and offers based on patterns identified across those datasets. The company positions this as a way to identify opportunities that manual analysis might overlook.
Finally, marketers can combine Cordial data with information from commerce, analytics and data warehouse systems. Potential applications cited by the company include evaluating ways to improve margins, reduce excess inventory and identify additional revenue opportunities.
The capabilities are intended to support decision-making and campaign recommendations. Cordial has not provided independent performance data quantifying improvements in campaign results, revenue or marketing productivity.
The launch follows Cordial’s release of headless AI infrastructure in June and forms part of its stated ambition to become an open decision and execution system for marketing.
CEO Jeremy Swift said the approach is intended to give marketers access to customer data without requiring them to work exclusively within a vendor’s interface. Matt Howland, president and chief product and engineering officer, said the company is building around the growing use of AI assistants and custom agents in marketing workflows.
The shift has implications for how marketing platforms expose data and functionality. As AI assistants become another interface for enterprise work, vendors may need to make their systems accessible through standardized connections and controlled access to business data.
CDPs have traditionally provided a place to unify customer profiles and make audience data available to marketing systems. A headless model changes the access layer: rather than requiring users to work through a dedicated interface, data and capabilities can be accessed by other applications and AI agents.
That approach could make customer intelligence more accessible across marketing workflows, but it also raises practical questions about permissions, data governance, security, accuracy and the actions an AI assistant is authorized to take. Integration breadth and the quality of underlying customer data will remain important factors in determining its usefulness.
Cordial’s launch reflects a broader move toward AI interfaces that can access enterprise systems rather than operate only as standalone chat tools. For marketing teams, the potential benefit is a shorter path from customer insight to audience selection and campaign planning.
The operational value will depend on how well the headless CDP connects with existing data environments, how recommendations are validated and how organizations govern access through third-party assistants and custom agents. Cordial has not disclosed detailed deployment metrics or quantified customer outcomes from the launch.
