Telecom operators are moving from AI experimentation toward systems that can act on customer, product and sales data inside core business workflows. Cerillion is positioning its BSS/OSS platform for that shift, after being included in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for CSP AI-Enabled Marketing and Sales Solutions.

Cerillion, the telecom software provider, has been named in Gartner’s 2026 Magic Quadrant for CSP AI-Enabled Marketing and Sales Solutions, putting its AI-enabled business support and operations software into a market increasingly focused on agentic automation and autonomous customer engagement.

The Gartner category covers commercial off-the-shelf platforms that use artificial intelligence for communications service provider marketing and sales, spanning AI capabilities embedded in BSS platforms as well as broader marketing and sales applications.

For Cerillion, the more significant part of the announcement is how it is building AI into the operational layer of its telecom software rather than treating AI as a separate application. Its approach combines embedded AI assistants and agents with a model-agnostic architecture designed to connect AI to the systems CSPs use to create, sell, fulfil, charge and bill for services.

At the center of that strategy is the Cerillion AI Management Centre, which provides governance and control over AI model usage. The company also offers an MCP Server based on the Model Context Protocol, allowing governed access to BSS/OSS functions through what Cerillion calls Progressive Discovery. Agent2Agent support is intended to let Cerillion agents work with CSP-developed and third-party agents.

That architecture matters because telecom operators have historically struggled to connect customer-facing innovation with fragmented operational systems. An AI marketing assistant that can identify an upsell opportunity is useful; an agent that can also interact with product catalogues, pricing, fulfilment and billing systems is potentially much more consequential.

Gartner’s 2026 research reflects that direction. Its CSP AI-enabled marketing and sales market analysis highlights the shift from broad, one-size-fits-all BSS offerings toward specialized AI capabilities, including agentic automation. Its Critical Capabilities research evaluates vendors across use cases such as AI marketing campaigns, agentic multichannel campaigns, hyperpersonalization, churn mitigation, dynamic pricing, lead management and sales intelligence.

Cerillion is not operating in an empty field. Gartner’s evaluation includes established telecom technology vendors such as Amdocs, Huawei, Oracle, Salesforce and Tecnotree, alongside Cerillion and other specialist providers. The competitive distinction is therefore less about simply offering generative AI and more about how deeply AI is integrated into commercial workflows, how open the architecture is and how effectively enterprises can govern autonomous actions.

That is particularly relevant as telecom operators move toward larger-scale AI deployment. McKinsey’s 2026 research found that 57% of surveyed telcos were already scaling AI use cases across multiple domains, while only 16% considered AI the “new normal” across their organizations. The gap suggests that governance, data architecture and workflow integration remain as important as model performance.

For enterprise marketing teams, Cerillion’s strategy could reduce the distance between marketing decisions and execution. Instead of generating recommendations in an isolated marketing tool, AI agents could potentially work against live BSS data and trigger downstream actions under defined business rules.

The broader market direction is clear: telecom AI is moving beyond chatbots and content generation toward systems capable of coordinating decisions across customer acquisition, personalization, sales, pricing and retention. Vendors that can combine that autonomy with enterprise controls may have an advantage as CSPs look for measurable AI outcomes without surrendering operational governance.

Market Landscape

The CSP AI marketing and sales market is becoming increasingly competitive as telecom vendors combine traditional BSS capabilities with generative and agentic AI. Gartner’s 2026 research lists Amdocs, AsiaInfo, Beyond Now, Cerillion, Comviva, Etiya, Flytxt, Huawei, Oracle, Salesforce, Tecnotree and Whale Cloud among evaluated vendors.

The competitive question is shifting from whether a vendor has AI to how that AI operates inside the telecom stack. Salesforce and Oracle bring broad enterprise CRM and marketing ecosystems, while telecom-focused vendors such as Cerillion, Amdocs and Tecnotree can differentiate through deeper BSS and OSS integration.

For CSPs, the appeal of embedded AI is therefore architectural as much as functional. AI that can reason over customer, product and billing information—and act within controlled operational boundaries—has a clearer path to measurable business outcomes than disconnected AI pilots.

Strategic Outlook

Cerillion’s Gartner recognition comes as telecom operators increasingly seek to move AI from experimentation into production. McKinsey reports that more than half of surveyed telcos now have at least 50 full-time employees dedicated to AI, while 64% expect to increase the AI share of their IT budgets in 2026.

The next phase will likely favor platforms that combine agentic capabilities, interoperable architectures and governance. For marketing organizations, that could mean AI moving from campaign assistance toward continuous decisioning across acquisition, personalization, cross-sell and retention.
