Amagi, a leader in cloud-based SaaS technology for broadcast and connected TV (CTV), has released its 14th Amagi Global FAST Report. The report highlights the increasing shift of content providers toward unified, platform-agnostic distribution, blending multiple streaming models for broader reach and monetization. With the traditional boundaries between video services blurring, the report reflects the evolving landscape of media consumption.
Unified Distribution: Content providers are moving toward more agile, cost-efficient distribution models that break down silos, combining free, paid, and ad-supported services into one seamless experience.
Consumer Preferences: The January 2025 Amagi Consumer Survey found that 75% of viewers prefer services that integrate free, paid, and ad-supported options. A majority of viewers (65%) also find the current streaming landscape confusing due to fragmented platforms.
Consumer Viewing Behavior: With growing frustration over the disjointed experience of switching between multiple platforms, viewers are leaning towards video services offering all-in-one options, increasing the demand for unified distribution strategies.
Market Growth: Amagi’s report also showcases robust year-over-year growth in Global Hours of Viewing (HOV) and ad impressions, with a 95% and 65% increase respectively among FAST customers. The U.S. and Canada are leading this growth, accounting for half of new channel launches and showing a significant 98% increase in HOV.
Content Trends: Entertainment continues to dominate globally, showing more than 100% growth and accounting for 42% of new channel launches.
Fragmented Viewing Experience: The growing demand for seamless integration across multiple streaming services highlights a shift towards platforms that offer unified viewing options.
Growth Opportunities: Content providers who embrace the trend toward integrated platforms will be better positioned to meet consumer preferences and accelerate growth in a competitive market.
Amagi’s 14th Global FAST Report underscores the need for content providers to adopt unified distribution strategies. With consumer frustration growing over fragmented viewing experiences, services that can deliver seamless, all-inclusive platforms will lead the charge in satisfying evolving viewer demands.
