Akamai Technologies, Inc., the cloud company that powers and protects life online, today announced a strategic collaboration with Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider. This partnership aims to deliver Micro-Segmentation Implementation Services through Akamai Guardicore Segmentation, addressing the increasing sophistication of cyber threats.
As network boundaries shift and malicious attacks become more advanced, new approaches are essential for mitigating threats. Kyndryl's certified teams worldwide will provide implementation and managed services for Akamai Guardicore Segmentation under the Guardicore certified Service Provider (GcSP) program. This collaboration will enhance Kyndryl's Zero Trust Services and tackle customer challenges in the context of their unique networks.
An Akamai study reveals alarming statistics: the abuse of zero-day and one-day vulnerabilities has led to a staggering 143% increase in total ransomware victims globally. This underscores the urgent need for a robust Zero Trust framework, with 93% of respondents in the same report identifying micro-segmentation as crucial for preventing ransomware attacks.
The combination of Kyndryl's consulting expertise and Akamai's technology provides customers with a seamless solution for designing, accelerating, and achieving their Zero Trust, segmentation, and network security objectives. The Kyndryl Consult Micro-Segmentation Implementation Services, paired with Akamai Guardicore Segmentation, enhance cyber resilience by limiting lateral movement of threats. These services also secure organizational assets and data through robust authentication methods and real-time, risk-based access policies.
"We're dedicated to helping customers navigate their ever-evolving cybersecurity challenges and security requirements," stated James Carrigan, Jr., Vice President, U.S. Security and Resiliency Practice Leader at Kyndryl. "Collaborating with Akamai will allow us to provide our customers with Zero Trust segmentation faster and more efficiently."
Nathan Perdue, Vice President, Global Sales Enterprise Security at Akamai, added, "We're proud to continue our partnership with Kyndryl to assist our mutual customers on their Zero Trust journey. The growth of security as a primary revenue driver for Akamai is thanks to dedicated service providers like Kyndryl. We look forward to continuing to support our customers in growing and protecting their businesses."

Together, they provide robust solutions that empower businesses to adopt Zero Trust principles and secure their IT infrastructures effectively.
