Adobe has unveiled a powerful new feature, Generative Remove, in Adobe Lightroom. This feature integrates Adobe Firefly’s generative AI capabilities into everyday photo editing, available across Lightroom mobile, web, and desktop platforms. Generative Remove allows users to remove unwanted objects from photos with a single click, creating high-quality, realistic results by intelligently matching the removed area with pixel-perfect generations.
Ashley Still, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Creative Cloud at Adobe, stated:
"We’re excited to bring the magic of Firefly to Lightroom’s millions of users – so they can live in the moment knowing they have the most powerful tools to edit, manage and share anywhere they are."

Generative Remove is powered by Adobe Firefly, which has generated over 8 billion images worldwide since its debut in March 2023. Firefly is designed to create content for commercial use without infringing on intellectual property rights. The integration of Firefly across Adobe’s core tools enhances creative workflows by providing precise control and new creative possibilities.
Adobe emphasizes transparency and ethical AI development. When Generative Remove becomes generally available, Content Credentials will be attached to edited photos. This metadata, akin to a "nutrition label" for digital content, provides tamper-evident information about the content’s creation, modification, and publication process.
Adobe's Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), founded in 2019, supports the integration of Content Credentials and aims to increase trust in the digital ecosystem. The CAI has grown to include over 3,000 members worldwide, working to add transparency to digital content.
Generative Remove is now available as an early access feature across the Lightroom ecosystem, including mobile, desktop, iPad, web, and Classic versions. The Lens Blur tool, with new preset functionality, is also generally available across all Lightroom platforms.
