Search visibility is becoming less synonymous with a position on Google's results page as consumers increasingly use AI assistants to research companies, products and services. Accelonaut Digital is expanding its search practice around that shift, combining conventional SEO with strategies designed to improve how businesses are surfaced and represented across AI-powered discovery environments.

Accelonaut Digital, an AI marketing agency, has expanded its search practice to address a search landscape that now includes traditional engines alongside platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity.

The company argues that this does not make conventional SEO obsolete. Instead, it creates another layer of visibility that businesses need to understand.

“For twenty years, a good ranking was a fair sign that people were finding you,” said Shabbir Salodawala, founder and head of digital strategies at Accelonaut Digital. “Rankings still matter, but they no longer show the entire search landscape.”

Research from Ahrefs illustrates why the distinction matters. In a study of 15,000 prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity, only 12% of URLs cited by ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot also appeared in Google's top 10 for the same prompts. Perplexity showed substantially greater overlap, while Google AI Overviews behaved differently, with 76% of cited URLs coming from pages ranking in Google's top 10 in Ahrefs' research.

The findings suggest that appearing prominently in conventional search does not automatically translate into visibility across every AI search environment.

Accelonaut Digital is consequently broadening its analysis beyond rankings to include brand mentions, third-party references, reviews, social platforms, media coverage, structured information and other signals that can help AI systems understand a company.

That approach is supported by another Ahrefs study of 75,000 brands. The research found that brand web mentions had a stronger correlation with visibility in Google AI Overviews than backlinks, although Ahrefs cautions that correlation does not establish causation.

For businesses, the implication is that authority increasingly extends beyond the corporate website. A company's reputation across independent websites, professional networks, review platforms and media can become part of the information ecosystem from which AI systems construct answers.

Original Expertise Becomes More Valuable

The expansion of generative AI has also made publishing content considerably easier. Accelonaut Digital argues that this makes original expertise more important, rather than simply increasing the amount of content a business produces.

Google's own guidance says its AI search experiences continue to prioritize unique, satisfying content that provides value to users. Google also states that its systems focus on content quality rather than whether content was produced with AI.

The agency therefore emphasizes original research, proprietary data, case studies, first-hand observations and expert commentary.

Semrush's 2026 analysis provides another indication of the role of originality. Its study of 89,000 LinkedIn URLs cited across 325,000 prompts found that approximately 95% of cited LinkedIn posts were original rather than reshared.

For marketers, that points toward a practical shift: AI-assisted production can accelerate content creation, but original information gives search and AI systems something distinctive to reference.

From Keywords to Search Journeys

Accelonaut Digital is also changing how it approaches keyword research. Rather than optimizing exclusively for individual phrases, the agency says it examines the broader questions and subtopics surrounding a customer's decision.

This is particularly relevant because AI search systems can retrieve information through multiple related queries before generating an answer. Ahrefs' research found evidence of this “query fan-out” behavior in ChatGPT, with the system averaging 1.78 search queries per prompt in one analysis.

That means businesses may need content that addresses an entire decision journey rather than a single keyword.

Accelonaut Digital says its measurement framework consequently combines conventional SEO indicators with AI visibility signals, including which questions produce brand mentions, which competitors appear alongside a business and which sources are cited.

Market Landscape

AI search is creating a more fragmented discovery environment. Google rankings remain important, but consumers can increasingly encounter brands through AI-generated answers, recommendations and summaries without following the same path as a traditional searcher.

Ahrefs' research indicates that AI assistants frequently cite pages that do not rank in Google's top 10 for the original query, demonstrating that conventional rankings alone cannot fully explain AI visibility.

At the same time, Google's AI search experiences retain a stronger relationship with traditional rankings. Ahrefs found that 76% of Google AI Overview citations in its study came from pages already ranking in the top 10.

The result is not a choice between SEO and AI search. It is a more complex search ecosystem in which technical foundations, useful content, authority, brand reputation and original expertise can work together.

Strategic Outlook

Accelonaut Digital's expanded practice reflects an emerging direction in search marketing: optimization is moving from individual rankings toward broader discoverability.

The challenge for agencies will be proving that AI visibility produces meaningful business outcomes. A brand mention in an AI response may influence a customer without generating a measurable website visit, making traditional attribution models less complete.

For businesses, durable strategies are likely to be less dependent on manipulating the behavior of a single AI platform and more focused on building authoritative websites, accurate business information, original expertise and credible third-party recognition.

That approach also gives companies a foundation that can continue to work as individual AI systems change how they retrieve and rank information.
