askotter.ai has launched an AI agent platform that allows small business owners to manage website updates, SEO, advertising and search visibility through text messages rather than conventional marketing dashboards.

The Boston-area company says its platform is designed for trades and local service businesses, where owners may have limited time or expertise to manage increasingly complex digital marketing operations.

The platform's AI agent, called Whiskers, monitors business data including search rankings, advertising spend, review signals and visibility in AI-generated answers. According to askotter.ai, the system can manage SEO, answer engine optimization (AEO), generative engine optimization (GEO) and pay-per-click advertising from a centralized platform, while allowing owners to interact with the system through SMS.

The text-based interface is intended to make routine marketing operations more accessible. An owner can text an update such as new business hours, a photograph or menu change, after which Whiskers prepares the requested website change and sends a draft for approval before publishing.

The agent also sends recommendations and performance updates through text messages, allowing business owners to interact with their marketing infrastructure without logging into a desktop dashboard.

That approach reflects a broader transition in marketing software from applications that require users to operate dashboards toward AI systems that can execute tasks through conversational interfaces.

Market Landscape

askotter.ai is targeting a particularly fragmented part of the digital marketing market: small businesses that depend on local search, paid advertising, reviews and increasingly AI-powered discovery.

Traditional marketing platforms often require owners to move between website CMSs, advertising dashboards, analytics systems, SEO tools and reputation-management platforms. For a small business owner, the operational complexity can become a barrier to consistent optimization.

The company's approach attempts to place an AI agent between the owner and those systems.

For example, askotter.ai says an auto repair business could receive a text recommending a change in advertising allocation based on service-level return on investment. A dental practice could receive an update about a ranking change while simultaneously having previously submitted holiday hours published to its website.

The platform also monitors what the company describes as AI answer-engine visibility. That is increasingly relevant as consumers use conversational AI systems to discover businesses and services rather than relying exclusively on conventional search-result pages.

However, AEO and GEO introduce measurement challenges that differ from traditional SEO. Businesses need to understand not only rankings but also whether their information is represented accurately and consistently across AI-driven discovery experiences.

askotter.ai's platform attempts to bring these signals together with PPC and conventional SEO data.

Strategic Outlook

The more significant development may be the platform's agentic operating model rather than its SMS interface.

Instead of requiring an owner to identify an issue, open a marketing application and execute a sequence of tasks, the platform is designed to continuously monitor selected signals and surface recommended actions.

This changes the role of marketing software from a destination that users visit to an automated system that proactively communicates with them.

The company also offers an optional agency mode that combines AI agents with a human specialist. Under the model, the specialist handles onboarding, connects advertising accounts, configures tracking and ROI targets, and reviews agent recommendations.

According to askotter.ai, managed plans require human review of agent actions before they are published. The company also says clients on managed plans receive ownership of their domain, design and content after six months.

Pricing is structured across three tiers: Self-managed at $99 per month, Managed SEO at $600 per month and Managed + Ads at $1,000 per month.

The model illustrates an emerging direction in small-business MarTech: AI agents handling continuous monitoring and execution while human specialists remain responsible for strategy, oversight and exceptions.

The challenge will be proving that automation can produce reliable business outcomes across different local markets and service categories without sacrificing control, transparency or measurement.
